5 THINGS I’M INTERESTED IN RIGHT NOW

  1. Daniel Pink - A Whole New Mind. Pink’s book subtitled, Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the World, has really got me thinking. I believe it’s a great resource for helping to create some common language for talking about the PoMo shift in a corporate/church context. I’m also finding it helpful in defining future values for an organization that is deeply wrestling with change and transformation in a rapidly changing context. It’s also helping me explain some of my own thoughts/feelings to myself.

  2. Pearbudget. M and I have recently begun attempting to get our heads/hands/hearts around our finances. Pear Budget, by Charlie and Sarah Park is a lovely little webapp that a number of our friends have suggested to us before. We’ve only just started using it. So…if you need to be on a budget (and who doesn’t, really?) then check out PB.

  3. Andrew Bird - Nobel Beast. For whatever reason, I’ve only just now discovered Andrew Bird. I feel like I should be slightly ashamed of myself. I’m slightly ashamed of myself, actually. At any rate, Bird’s new, Nobel Beast, is full of whimsically-deep delight.

  4. The 99% Conference. People keep saying that the conference business is dead. While that may be true, I’m seriously considering attending 99%. Their website states: “How many unwritten ideas, unrealized campaigns, and brilliant ideas have never seen the light of day? 99% is a conference that focuses less on inspiration, and more on how idea generation and organization come together to make ideas happen.” This leads me quite naturally to number 5…

  5. Field Notes. A good friend of mine likes to mention that I’m always trying to organize my disorganization. I’m not sure this is such a bad thing though, since I think he might just be describing my creative process. Regardless, I have always had trouble organizing and capturing my thoughts, which is where Field Notes comes in. This little notebook has been working for me because it is compact, cleanly designed, and durable. I also love it because it is NOT a Moleskine.
