Contain Yourself Already

What do you do when things don’t go your way?

You’re defending something (an idea, a way of doing things) that you know in your heart to be true,  something you know deep down in your gut will work, but the decision makers tell you “no” in no uncertain terms.

It can get ugly pretty quickly if you don’t find some place to put these feelings.

We’ve all seen the ill-placed comment or the jab that came out sideways in the middle of a “these-people-just-don’t-understand-me” prideful tirade.

But what about when things do go your way?

When the decision makers give you exactly what you need or even better, what you want.

What then?

We’ve all seen the ill-placed comment or the jab that came out sideways in the middle of a “see-I-knew-it-all-along,” prideful rant.

When you don’t get your way, do you have a place to put your feelings of being misunderstood?

When you get what you want, do you have a place to put your feelings of being seen and heard?

Each feeling requires a unique container and you must be prepared to create space for both.

Pride looks ugly whether you get your way or not.
