MAKING STUFF

I believe there are two aspirations that should sum up our time on earth: “love well” and “die empty.” To die empty we must engage in the continual practice of giving form to whatever thoughts, ideas, conversations and projects are simmering on the back burner. We must defiantly stare into the abyss of our doubt and fear and build a hedge against them through daily, purposeful making. As we do, we forge meaning out of the apparent randomness and begin to uncover our true selves. We don’t really know who we are until we know what we’re capable of making.
