Five Things I’m Into Right Now

1. Holland, Michigan Last weekend The Mrs. and I spent a couple of days in the quaint, Dutch-Reformed village of Holland, MI. We were in town for a marriage conference put on by the couple who married us a little over a year ago. The town felt a little like Pleasantville - super duper clean and really, really, really nice people. Great weekend away to say the least.

2. City Flats Hotel Billed as the only LEED certified hotel in the Midwest, City Flats was a great alternative to the Holiday Inn. Cork floors, bamboo sheets, and free Intelligentsia coffee all day long. What more can you ask for?

3. Welcome To The Welcome Wagon The Rev. Vito Aiuto and his wife, Monique, join forces with Sufjan Stevens (producer/arranger) to create a sweet, comforting, and fresh mix of folk songs and hymns. Buy it right now, listen to “But For You Who Fear My Name, and feel better immediately.

4. The Cute Manifesto James Kochalka’s reflection on art, life, philosophy and comic books, pays for itself in the opening three paragraphs. He writes, “What every creator should do, must do, is use the skills they have right now. A great masterpiece is within reach if only your will power is strong enough (just like the Green Lantern.) Just look within yourself and say what you have to say.”

5. The 100 Words Project My friend Josh did a similar project awhile ago and I’ve been meaning to try it for sometime. The basic idea is to ask friends/artists/bloggers/etc. to write 100 words on a topic of my choosing. A few people have already begun sending back their 100 words, which I’ll hopefully begin posting soon as a weekly series.
