Do Not Covet Your Ideas
We hold on to so much. We keep our ideas to ourselves. We don’t want to risk others taking credit for OUR ideas. And yet, we must let go. We must empty ourselves of our ideas. Hoard your little gems and you may be headed for a life of stale bread.
I know a few people like this. You probably do as well. They don’t tend to speak up regularly in meetings. They are secretive. They don’t share their ideas freely. And when they do? Their ideas feel surprisingly similar. Dare I say it? Old.
The problem with hoarding is that you eventually end up living off your reserves. Eventually you become stale. If you give away everything you have, you are left with nothing. This forces you to look, to be aware, to replenish. Somehow the more you give away the more comes back to you. - Paul Arden, It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be
So, give away your ideas. Let those suckers fly. Empty your bucket. There is a world of creative growth and transformation waiting for you on the other side. If only you’d just let go.
