Henry Todd Niequist
On Monday, M and I had the privilege of watching Mr. Henry Todd Niequist for a few hours while his parents Aaron and Shauna celebrated their anniversary. Upon Henry’s insistence, we went to the park, watched Bolt, and drank juice. A perfect day if you ask me.
In keeping with my 4 Week Photographer Project, I took photos along the way with my newly borrowed Nikon D70. I cheated on post using...
Belong
This last weekend we tried something new for us. Center screen. Simple graphics. Worked like a charm. It was great fun to make using Keynote ‘09. A very sexy program, I might add.
Below are a few slides and here is a link to a bunch more. Special thanks to Longbrake for granting us permission to use one of his photos.
Here We Go
If you’ve been keeping up, last week I was given an assignment: Become Something You Are Not. The heart of the assignment is to get me to start thinking differently about creativity through a creative medium that I’m not proficient in. The chosen medium: photography.
On Wednesday I checked out a Nikon D70 from my gracious video department at Willow Creek. After a ton a great advice...

Let Fear Be Your Guide
I have anxiety. It is something I’ve struggled with most of my life. A few years ago it was so bad it put me in the emergency room on occasion. These days it sits just beneath the surface. Most days I barely know it’s there. The days when I do are usually days some kind of fear has crept in.
For me, fear is a big ass pause button and I. Can’t. Move.
I hit the wall of paralysis....

New Project: 4 Week Photographer
For the past two months I’ve been taking part in Carlos Whittaker’s Creative Coaching Network. Various groups of us meet once a month online to talk through the creative process, give encouragement, and challenge one another.
Last week each of us were given an assignment: Become something you are not. The idea is to get us thinking about how to solve creative problems in new ways as...

Hard Times
A few weeks ago I posted about a great new project launching in September - Come O Spirit, The Anthology of Hymns and Spiritual Songs. Below is the track, Hard Times, off their soon to be released album.
It melted me this afternoon. Hopefully it does the same for you.

Behold The Dreamer Cometh
A number of months ago I read the following passage in Genesis 37:19, “And they said one to another: Behold the dreamer cometh.”
This tiny little phrase captured me, setting me on a path to create the project you’ll see below: Behold The Dreamer Cometh - A movement-based exploration of the creative process. The end result was the opening element for Willow Creek’s Arts...

Here Are My Hands
One of my favorite things to make are music videos, especially when you have a great song to start with. We had a lot of fun making this piece for Aaron Niequist’s song, Here Are My Hands.
Our hands are small and trembling. We sometimes feel insignificant. And yet we are called to give our whole hearts to the cause. Aaron shows us what it might look like to let go.

Five Things I'm Into Right Now
1. Sleeping At Last - Storyboards // My friends from Sleeping At Last recently sent me a review copy of their latest album, Storyboards. Their music is always so sweet, fresh and cinematic to me. I promise that something from this album will make its way into an opening credit sequence soon. 2. Moving Boxes // We I (and some friends and family) moved this week. And even after a few generous...
