context NOT relevance, or perhaps it's BOTH
About a month ago, Jarrod and I got the opportunity to spend some time in NYC with an organization called the International Arts Movement.
“IAM gathers artists and creative catalysts to wrestle with the deep questions of art, faith and humanity in order to inspire the creative community to engage the culture that is and create the world that ought to be.”
The purpose for the visit...

THIS occurred nearly two years when M and I traveled across the country from Chicago to Seattle. M dropped me off at school and flew back. I came back to her 24 months later.
Since I have been in a reminiscing mood lately I thought I would share this video in honor of our trip two years ago.
I’m having a hard time picking my favorite part. What is yours? :-)
only 20 days + new pics
Yes…that is correct…only 20 more days until the big day!
In honor of such an auscpicious occasion, I thought I’d post a few engagement pictures that our good friends Ben and Whitney of Brighten Photography took of M and I while she was in Seattle a few months ago for my graduation.

20X200 = hotness
20x200 by Jen Beckman is easily my most favorite place to peruse and purchase great art for super cheap.
Every Tuesday and Wednesday at 2pm EST, they upload fresh works for you to buy.
20x200 works like this:
2 large (30”x40”) prints are sold at $2000.
20 medium (17”x22”) prints go for $200/per.
200 smaller ones (8.5”x11”) are sold at 20 bucks a pop.

MHGS WHAT IF NO. 1
While I posted this many months ago, I thought I would do so again since we are doing our final edits on film no. 2. My good friend Sam from Difted shot and edited this with me.
About the film:
As the national sponsor of Brian McLaren’s Everything Must Change Tour, we were given 5 minutes to show a short film about MHGS. My deepest hope when I wrote and shot it was...
culture w/o the celebrity worship
I’ve been doing some work for the other journal these past few months. The other journal is an online publicaton by some friends at MHGS. They publish some interesting stuff.
Here are a few comps for some things we worked up this spring…

feed me
When I switched over to tumblr I forgot that I would lose my old feed and that people who were following along would no longer be able to. Dumb me.
Anyway…30 days is almost up for the that feed and then it will be lost forever somewhere deep inside the interweb. Please discard that stinky old feed before it is too late.
So…if you want to make sure you’re getting the...

M’s sister, Colleen, just started reading Orwell’s Animal Farm. Sober reading for a 12 year old I believe.
kill your ideas
The people over at Behance have an online mag with some great advice for those of us who make stuff. Here is good little article on knowing when to let some of your ideas go.
2008 design trends →
Looks like the trends for design in 2008 will continue to take us back in time. I, for one, am excited to see how retro will interact with postmodern.
cover design
I’ve been working on a cover design for a new book by my MHGS prof., Ron Carucci and his colleague, Josh Epperson.
I’m going for a retro/industrial feel and I’d love your thoughts. (Unfortunately I’m having trouble retaining the original colors when I convert to jpeg. Ugh.)
hamletmachine
The photo above taken by my friend Mackenzie made me terribly reminiscent of my college theatre days at Butler.
Back in the day, M performed in our department’s deconstrutionist production of Hamletmachine. M is the one with the lightbulb angel wings.
Let’s face it…while I think we did some pretty good work, college theatre is odd!

You Are Beautiful. An amazing Chicago-based community art project.
my strengths
Since I’ve been back to Chicago I’ve had 5 (yes, count them 5) interviews with Willow Creek Community Church. For those of you who follow the mega-church Evangelical world, Willow has been undergoing some very major changes the last few years. While it isn’t entirely clear what all I may be doing if given a job, it will have something to do with producing creative content.

newness
Now that I am officially back in Chicago, am semi-settled, and am experiencing an incredible amount of newness (marriage, jobs, chicago, friends, etc…) I thought it would be fitting to change up my blog as well.
